A polícia de Detroit diz que finalmente resolveu o caso de um neurocirurgião que foi brutalmente assassinado em sua mansão.
O Dr. Devon Hoover, 57, foi morto a tiros dentro de sua casa de US$ 1 milhão em abril de 2023 por Desmond Burks, 34, de acordo com a polícia.
Os dois homens tinham um relacionamento íntimo e Burks às vezes cobrava do médico por sexo, segundo as autoridades.
A polícia fez a prisão na quarta-feira, acusando Burks de homicídio de primeiro grau e outros crimes relacionados ao assassinato, como furto acima de US$ 20.000.
“Esta investigação massiva foi conduzida por mais de um ano em conjunto com parceiros policiais locais, estaduais e federais”, disse a promotora do Condado de Wayne, Kym Worthy, por Notícias da raposa.

Police say Hoover’s phone shows that he was moving between his home in Detroit’s Boston-Edison neighborhood and Burk’s address in Grandale, which is about 15 minutes away, the day before his murder.
Dr Hoover was found shot twice in the head, naked in a crawlspace in his home after police carried out a welfare check when he failed to show up for a family party in Indiana.
Officials had received a complaint about a white Range Rover that was blocking a drive way in the Grandale neighborhood the day before they found his body.
The vehicle had blood inside, according to police, and was registered to Hoover. Officers then traveled to his home and noticed the front and rear doors were wide open but no one appeared to be home.

The next day Hoover’s family made a 911 call to request a wellness check on the doctor after he failed to shop up for a planned visit with his mother in Indiana.

Police noticed several things were missing from the home, including Hoover’s cellphone, wallet, money, credit cards and designer watches.
Moreover, fraudulent transactions were made from his financial accounts after his death.
Dr Hoover was well liked in his community, and was previously named in Hour Detroit Magazine as one of the leading neurological surgeons in Detroit in 2008
Police say they found Burk’s fingerprint in the Range Rover, and that they located Hoover’s watches in his home.

In a statement following his murder, Ascension Michigan Hospital said Dr Hoover ‘was a dedicated and well-respected member of the Ascension Michigan family and will be greatly missed by our community. Our sincerest condolence and heartfelt prayers are with his family, friends and fellow associated during this incredibly difficult time’.
